Rules and Regulations

Please read the following Contest Rules in their entirety before entering the Contest. Do not enter the Contest unless you agree to these Contest Rules.
  1. NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY to enter the Contest.

  2. To enter the Contest, complete the entry form found at www.hhof.com. One entry per person. If you have trouble entering the Contest, please provide details by e-mail to mascot@hhof.com.

  3. To be eligible to win and receive a prize in the contest, you must be a legal resident of Canada (excluding the Province of Quebec) or the United States. Employees of the Hockey Hall of Fame (herein referred to as HHOF) and its participating sponsors, contractors, agents, representatives and their immediate family members, or anyone with whom they are domiciled ARE NOT eligible to win and receive a prize. The contest is void where prohibited by law and is subject to all federal, provincial, state and municipal laws and regulations. Any contest entries that are permitted by any applicable federal, provincial, state and municipal laws or regulations are null and void. It is the responsibility of the entrant to determine whether his or her participation in the Contest is permitted under the laws applicable in the entrant's place of residence.

  4. Entrants who have not yet reached the age of 18 years or the age of majority in their province or state of residence must have the consent of a parent/legal guardian to enter the contest.

  5. The Contest commences on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 12:00 PM (EST/EDT) and ends Monday, January 9, 2012 at 12:00 PM (EST/EDT).

  6. The proposed name must be original and may not infringe any third party's rights. The proposed name may not contain or be confusingly similar to any third party brand or trademark, as determined by the HHOF in its sole discretion. The proposed name may not be inappropriate, indecent, obscene or otherwise inconsistent with the image of the HHOF, as determined by HHOF in its sole discretion.

  7. By entering the contest (and winner, by accepting prize), entrants/winner agree to irrevocably assign and transfer to the HHOF all rights, title and interest in the proposed name throughout the world, including, without limitation, all trademark rights, and agree to execute any additional documents the HHOF may deem necessary to evidence or effectuate such assignment. Sponsor's rights with respect to the name submitted include, but are not limited to: (a) the exclusive right to use, publish, display or reproduce the name for purposes of trade and advertising and/or any other lawful purpose; (b) the exclusive right to alter, revise or change the name in any way; (c) the exclusive right to secure trademark and copyright registrations for the name and other rights in the entry anywhere throughout the world; (d) the exclusive right to license, exploit, sell, assign, or otherwise dispose of the name or any of the said rights included therein for any purpose which Sponsor may see fit; and (e) any and all subsidiary rights in the name.

  8. Winner Selection/Judging Criteria: Entries will be judged by a panel of HHOF staff its sole discretion to determine the winning name for the Mascot. Names will be judged based on the following equally applied criteria: creativity, accuracy of description, marketability, and communication of HHOF's brand. In the event that the exact same winning name was submitted by more than one entrant, a random drawing will be conducted from among each individual who submitted the winning name to award one Grand Prize. The potential winning name must also be legally cleared through a comprehensive trademark clearance process; if the potential winning name cannot be legally cleared through this clearance process, an alternate winner will be selected.

    Judging will take place on January 16, 2011 at the Hockey Hall of Fame offices. The potential winner will be notified by phone, mail and/or e-mail. The selected entrant will be notified within 72 hours of judging. The potential winner will be contacted by phone and will be required to correctly answer, unaided, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question before being declared a winner. In the event that a selected entrant does not comply with these Contest Rules, or cannot be contacted within 72 hours of the draw, that selection shall be void with no further obligation to the selected entrant and an alternate entrant will be selected from the remaining entries.

  9. Prize: One (1) Grand Prize of a Panasonic 3D Ready High Definition Camcorder (HDC-TM90 Built-in memory / SD Card Full-HD Camcorder) and a family pass of four tickets to the Hockey Hall of Fame (Approximate retail value - $700) will be awarded to the entrant who submits the winning name for the Hockey Hall of Fame's 'Name Our Mascot Contest'. No cash substitution for prize will be permitted and prize may not be transferred, except at sole discretion of HHOF. The HHOF reserves the right to substitute prize of equal or greater value in the event that any prize becomes unavailable. Federal, provincial, state and local taxes on prize are solely the responsibility of the winner.

  10. Grand Prize winner will be required to sign a standard "Release, Waiver and Declaration Form" ("RWDF") confirming compliance with the Contest Rules and releasing the Hockey Hall of Fame, its sponsors and affiliates and their respective advertising and promotional agencies from all liability. Contest winners are responsible for the proper use of the prize once awarded and acceptance of a Prize as awarded releases HHOF, its sponsors and affiliates and their respective advertising and promotional agencies from any loss or damage sustained in relation to the Prize.

  11. Contest winners who have not yet reached the age of 18 years or the age of majority in their province or state of residence must have a parent/legal guardian sign the "RWDF" to confirm compliance and consent with all Contest Rules and to accept Prizes on behalf of a minor.

  12. By entering the Contest, you agree that your name can be used, without compensation, for the purpose of displaying the top name recommendations, along with the reasoning for selecting this name, through HHOF website, social media sites, and other marketing mediums.

  13. By entering this Contest and voluntarily providing your personal information (including, but not limited to name, age, address, telephone number and email address) (collectively "Registrant Information") you consent and agree to: (i) HHFM's collection and use of the Registrant Information to administer this Contest; (ii) HHFM's use of your Registrant Information to contact you to promote draws, interactive features and contests similar to this contest, through 'HHOF Teammates', the official newsletter of the Hockey Hall of Fame, notify you about programs and special events and promote marketing initiatives from HHFM sponsors and licensees. An entrant's consent to HHOF's use of Registrant Information may be revoked at any time (without revoking full participation in the Contest) by submitting a revocation notice (including your email address) to jdawson@hhof.com. Any inquiry concerning the retention and use of your entrant information should be addressed to HHOF at swalters@hhof.com and will be subject to HHFM's privacy policy located at www.hhof.com/html/privacy.shtml. Subject to applicable laws, your entrant information will not be disclosed or transferred to any third party without your consent.

  14. Information provided by Contest entrants will not be shared with anyone except as set forth in these Contest Rules. The Privacy Policy and Terms of Service in connection with the Internet services provided by the Hockey Hall of Fame are applicable to the Contest.

  15. By entering the Contest, you agree to be bound by the entire official Contest Rules and the decisions of the Hockey Hall of Fame, which are final on all matters relating to the Contest. The Hockey Hall of Fame, in its sole discretion, may disqualify any individual who is found to have tampered in any way with the operation of the Contest.

  16. The Contest is governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada.
CHILDREN'S GUIDELINES
The Hockey Hall of Fame encourages children to consult with their parents before furnishing data. We believe that parents should supervise their children's online activities and consider using parental control tools available from online services and software manufacturers that help provide a kid-friendly online environment. These tools can also prevent children from disclosing online their name, address and other personal information without parental permission. In general, we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 via hhof.com. Upon registration in the Contest, notification is provided instructing children under 13 to seek permission from their parents or legal guardian before entering any personal information.
