Orr Scores 21st Goal

March 20, 1969
In 1968-69, in only his third season, Bobby Orr set a record for defencemen with his 21st goal of the year. He scored the tying goal at 19:59 of the third period to earn Boston a point versus Chicago. But that was only the beginning. Orr scored 33 the next year, 37 in each of the next two seasons, and 46 just three years later. The most prolific goal-scorer from the blueline in the history of the game when he retired, Orr finished with 270 in just 657 career games.

Quotable:
"I am glad I won the Norris Trophy this year, because in 10 years it will be the Bobby Orr Trophy."
- Harry Howell, accepting the 1967 Norris Trophy at the NHL awards luncheon
