Bobby Hull Bobby Hull quote - Believing a merger between the NHL and WHA would lead to better hockey, Hull stated "We could eliminate the weak franchises in both leagues and get rid of 100 or so jerks who just play for the money and don't put anything back into the game. We'd have something good again."

Dennis Hull Dennis Hull played in his brother Bobby's shadow but was truly a star in his own right. During the 1970s, Dennis appeared in four all-star games and earned a berth on the 1972-73 NHL Second All-Star Team after registering a career-high 90 points. He was noted for his tremendous slapshot and finished his career in 1978 with 303 goals.


Dave Keon Dave Keon tidbit - got involved in his only career NHL fight during the last game of the 1973-74 season. His combatant was Gregg Sheppard of the Bruins who had high-sticked him in the face.

Valeri Kharlamov Valeri Kharlamov made his Soviet National Team debut at the 1969 World Championships. He earned gold at two Olympics and 8 World Championships. Kharlamov was named best forward at the 1976 Worlds and selected to three WC all-star teams. He played for 11 Soviet national champions over his career. Tragically, on August 27, 1981, Kharlamov and his wife were killed in a car accident.



Andre Lacroix Andre Lacroix played more games, collected more assists and had more points then any other player in the history of the WHA. He became an instant star with the Philadelphia Blazers in the inaugural season of the WHA in 1972-73. In 1974-75, Lacroix set a professional hockey record with 106 assists. He led the WHA in scoring twice and was a first-team all-star three times. Guy Lafleur Guy Lafleur tidbit - set several standards in the 1970s, including becoming the first Quebec junior player to have his jersey number retired (number 4 by the Quebec Remparts).
