Who knew that his NHL career could be so great!

It didn't start out so well for David. In his first NHL game, a January 2007 contest in which the Buffalo Sabres spanked Boston 7-1, he suffered a concussion that knocked him out of action. But gradually, Krejci worked his way back to health and into the Bruins' line-up and since, has consistently contributed to Boston's attack. In fact, in 2008-09, he earned the NHL Plus-Minus Award with a stunning +37 rating.

When the Bruins captured the Stanley Cup last June, it was a full team effort, but David Krejci certainly contributed. He led all post-season scorers with 12 goals (including four game-winners) and 23 points on Boston's 25-game march to Stanley Cup victory.

Krejci had joined former teammate Tomas Kaberle through his date with the Stanley Cup in Kladno on July 20. Kaberle returned the favour on Krejci's day.

On Thursday, July 21, the Stanley Cup was taken to Krejci's hometown of Sternberk in the Czech Republic. The historic town, home to 14,000 residents, was ready to welcome back their 'local boy made good' with open arms

David began his day with a stop at his parents' home where they took pictures with the sensational trophy. David's girlfriend, Naomi, was there with his parents.

More than 3,500 fans braved the constant rain, shouting heartily as David carried the Stanley Cup into the town square at 5:00pm. After a short reception, Both Krejci and Kaberle signed autographs for hours, accommodating requests for photos as well.

Later that evening, about a hundred friends and family members met back at the Krejci home. The Cup spent time inside as well as in the backyard as those closest to Krejci revelled in David's success.

The rain proved to be a moot point as Sternberk, with its most famous resident and his Bruins' teammate, enjoyed a memorable day that will never be forgotten.
