George Pargeter was born February 24, 1923 in Calgary, Alberta. A graduate of the Calgary City Junior Hockey League's Calgary Royals, Pargeter led his team to the 1942 Memorial Cup tournament before joining the Alberta Senior Hockey League's Red Deer Wheelers in 1942-43.

The Calgary, Alberta native spent two seasons with the Wheelers before joining the American Hockey League's Buffalo Bisons in 1944-45, a team with whom he spent only one season with before going on to sign with the AHL's New Haven Eagles in 1945-46.

Even though he spent the majority of the 1945-46 season with New Haven, Pargeter played in 14 games with the United States Hockey League's Fort Worth Rangers before being dealt to Montreal (Buffalo-AHL) during the off-season.

During the 1946-47 season, Pargeter made his NHL debut with Montreal playing a handful of games while spending the majority of the season with Buffalo of the AHL.

Pargeter went to spend the next six seasons with the Bisons establishing a career high in goals (31) assists (34) and points (65) during the 1948-49 season before signing with the Western Hockey League's Seattle Bombers for the 1952-53 season.

After only one season in Seattle, Pargeter returned home to Calgary in 1953-54 as a member of the WHL's Calgary Stampeders. Pargeter spent two seasons in Calgary with the Stampeders competing for the Edinburgh Trophy in 1953-54 before calling it a career following the 1954-55 season.
