Netminder Rick LaFerriere played one game for the Colorado Rockies in 1981-82. He was a top junior prospect whose fairly short pro career took place mainly in the minors.
Born in Hawkesbury, Ontario LaFerriere was a junior standout for the OHA's Peterborough Petes and Brantford Alexanders. In 1978-79 he was the back up when the Petes won the Memorial Cup. The next season he led the league with a 3.27 goals against mark and played at the World Junior Championships.
The Rockies chose LaFerriere 64th overall in 1980 then returned him for one last year of junior. During the 1981-82 season he suited up in junior, the minors and played one period for Colorado. After his brief NHL tenure Laferriere returned to the minors and played most of the next two years in the IHL before retiring in 1984.
