Masi Marjamaki was born January 16, 1985 in Pori, Finland. The second round, 66th overall selection of the Boston Bruins in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, Marjamaki honed his skills in his homeland before bringing his game to North America in 2002-03.
A skilled forward, Marjamaki spent four years in the WHL splitting his time between Red Deer and Moose Jaw registering 120 points (50-79-120). Following a solid junior career, Marjamaki re-entered the draft and was selected in the fifth round, 144th overall by the New York Islanders in 2005.
In his first pro season with the Islanders organization, Marjamaki spent the majority of the season with the club's AHL affiliate in Bridgeport Sound before making his NHL debut with the parent club in the latter stages of the 2005-06 season
