Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Victor Oreskovich
Victor Oreskovich was born on August 15, 1986 in Whitby, Ontario. Originally drafted by the Colorado Avalanche in 2004, he played collegiately at the University of Notre Dame and in the Ontario Hockey League for the Kitchener Rangers before turning pro.

After being cut by the Avalanche in 2007, Oreskovich announced his retirement from the game. In the two years that followed he returned to the University of Notre Dame and completed his degree in finance.

Two years away renewed Oreskovich's passion for the game and in 2009 he earned a try-out with the Florida Panthers. He impressed enough in training camp that he was assigned to the club's AHL affiliate in Rochester and in less than a month he was recalled to make his NHL debut. He would go on to split time in his rookie season (2009-10) between the AHL and NHL.

On June 25, 2010, Oreskovich was traded to the Vancouver Canucks along with Keith Ballard in exchange for Michael Grabner, Steve Bernier and a first round draft pick.
