Legends of Hockey -- NHL Player Search -- Player -- Eric O'Dell
Eric O’Dell was born on June 20, 1990 in Ottawa, Ontario. As a product of the OHL’s Sudbury Wolves, O’Dell was drafted in the second round, 39th overall, by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. However, he was traded during the 2008-09 season to the Atlanta Thrashers for Erik Christensen.

O’Dell would make his professional debut with the AHL’s Chicago Wolves, the Atlanta Thrasher’s affiliate, during the 2009-10 season and soon signed him to his entry level deal later that year. When the Thrashers became the Winnipeg Jets, he remained in the Jets system, playing for the St. John’s IceCaps.

O’Dell’s NHL debut wouldn’t come until the 2013-14 season against the Columbus Blue Jackets. In that game he would score his first NHL goal, in a 6-3 loss for the Jets. After spending most of the 2014-15 season up and down between the IceCaps and Jets, he elected to leave Winnipeg as an unrestricted free agent on July 1, 2015 where he landed with the Ottawa Senators.

O'Dell began the 2015–16 season with Ottawa's AHL affiliate, the Binghamton Senators. He immediately produced offensively, recording 37 points in 50 games. On February 27, 2016, O'Dell's time in the Senators organization would come to an end. He was traded to the Buffalo Sabres as part of a seven-player deal.

On the international stage, O’Dell would represent Canada once during the 2008 IIHF World Under 18 Championship, where he helped Canada to a gold medal.
