Brandon Halverson was born on March 29, 1996 in Traverse City, Michigan. A standout goaltender for the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in the OHL, Halverson was selected in the second round of the NHL Entry Draft by the New York Rangers.

In 2016-17, Halverson began his professional career with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits of the ECHL and would soon be promoted to the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL. The following season would be spent primarily in Greenville, but Halverson would also get his first taste of NHL action. On February 17, 2018 he came on in relief, making five saves in a 6-3 Rangers loss to the Ottawa Senators.
