Daniel Brickley was born on March 30, 1995 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He captured back-to-back state championships while playing with Skyline High School and would go on to attend Minnesota State University. In his sophomore season, Brickley recorded 31 points in 31 games and was name to the conference First All-Star Team and earned Defensive Player of the Year honours.

Undrafted by an NHL club, Brickley signed as a free agent with the Los Angeles Kings following completion of his junior year at Minnesota State. He would go on to make his NHL debut on April 6, 2018, recording an assist in in a 5-4 Kings victory over the Minnesota Wild.
