Led by head coach Bob Hartley, the Calgary Flames improved by 20 points in 2014-15 over the previous year, the most significant improvement in the Western Conference. The Flames would finish with 97 points and a record of 45-30-7 to qualify for the playoffs for the first time since 2009.

Hartley received 37 first-place votes and was named on 63 of 75 ballots to earn the Jack Adams trophy over runner up Alain Vigneault of the New York Rangers and Peter Laviolette of the Nashville Predators who finished third. The win is the first for Hartley who also became the first Flames bench boss to capture the award.
