For the third consecutive season and the fifth time in his career, Washington Capitals star Alexander Ovechkin captured the Maurice 'Rocket' Richard Trophy as the NHL's top goal scorer.
Ovechkin's 53 goals were ten better than Steven Stamkos of the Tampa Bay Lightning and his 25 power-play goals were also an NHL best. In addition, on April 2nd, Ovechkin surpassed Peter Bondra to become the Capitals all-time leading goal-scorer.
Ovechkin notched his sixth career 50-goal season in 2014-15 and joined a very select group who have accomplished the feat. Mike Bossy and Wayne Gretzky each reached the 50-goal mark nine times, with Marcel Dionne, Guy Lafleur and Mario Lemieux matching Ovechkin's six.
