JACQUES PLANTE became the fourth goalie in NHL history to be awarded consecutive VEZINA TROPHIES as the NHL's top goaltender, joining George Hainsworth, Bill Durnan and Terry Sawchuk. The Canadiens allowed a league-low 155 goals against, of which PLANTE would only allow 123 during his 61 appearances. The Habs, who lost a mere six games on home ice, were led by PLANTE'S 31-18-12 record and league-leading 2.02 goals-against average and nine shutouts. He was named to the Second All-Star Team at season's end. Glenn Hall of Detroit placed second in the VEZINA derby.
