Chicago Blackhawks

Rookie TONY ESPOSITO was Chicago's workhorse in 1969-70 appearing in 63 games. He finished with a 2.17 goals-against average and led the league with 38 victories and 15 shutouts, which was the highest total of the modern area since the red line was mandated in 1943. ESPOSITO was rewarded with a berth on the First All-Star Team and the Calder Trophy as Rookie-of-the-Year, becoming just the second netminder, along with Frank Brimsek, to capture the Calder and VEZINA in the same season. The St. Louis combo of Jacques Plante and Ernie Wakely placed second in the VEZINA derby.
