75/25 ANNIVERSARY GALA ACHIEVES FUNDRAISING GOAL

The Hockey Hall of Fame 75/25 Anniversary Legends Gala, the marquee event and focal point of the Hockey Hall of Fame's "75/25 Anniversary Inaugural Endowment Fundraising Campaign", achieved its inaugural endowment fundraising campaign goal of $1.0 million.

The event was held at historic Maple Leaf Gardens (now Ryerson University’s “Mattamy Athletic Centre”) in Toronto on Monday, June 25, 2018. Over 60 Hockey Hall of Fame Honoured Members attended this truly unique and timely opportunity that brought the fraternity of hockey legends together with other special guests and entertainers for an incredible tribute to excellence in the game of hockey.

WestJet signs on as legends gala presenting sponsor

WestJet Airlines Ltd., Canada’s second largest airline providing scheduled and charter passenger air service to over 100 destinations in Canada and worldwide, has entered into a 5-year sponsorship and promotional licensing agreement with the Hockey Hall of Fame commencing October 1, 2017.

In addition to the lead Gala Presenting Sponsor role in association with the Hockey Hall of Fame 75/25 Anniversary Legends Gala to be held at historic Maple Leaf Gardens on Monday, June 25, 2018, WestJet receives category exclusive promotional licensing rights as the “Official Airline of the Hockey Hall of Fame”, along with other benefits which include identification within the Hall’s museum attraction, private venue use, admission/event tickets and activation opportunities and recognition as a co-presenting sponsor of the annual Hockey Hall of Fame Induction Weekend/Celebration.

Historic Maple Leaf Gardens confirmed for Legends Gala

Revered as one of the "cathedrals" of hockey, Maple Leaf Gardens was home to the Toronto Maple Leafs from 1931 to 1999, winning the Stanley Cup 11 times during that era — eight of which occurred in the building that will play host to the Hockey Hall of Fame 75/25 Anniversary Legends Gala on Monday, June 25, 2018 (a natural fit given that so many of the hockey legends attending have played at Maple Leaf Gardens).

Back in 1931, under the watchful eye of Maple Leafs managing director and Hockey Hall of Fame Honoured Member, Conn Smythe, construction of the arena took a mere seven months to construct at a cost of over $1.5 million (roughly $22.5 million in today’s dollars). Today this iconic building, now named Ryerson University’s “Mattamy Athletic Centre”, is recognized and preserved as a National Historic Site.

Joining WestJet as the lead Gala Presenting Sponsor, the Hockey Hall of Fame (HHOF) is pleased to confirm the complete line-up of Show Programme Segment Presenting Sponsors for the Hockey Hall of Fame 75/25 Anniversary Legends Gala, to be held at historic Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto on Monday, June 25, 2018. HHOF’s newest sponsor, J.P. Wiser's, will host the Red Carpet Experience and “Spirits” of Hockey Reception to open the evening’s festivities. The Upper Deck Company (HHOF sponsor since 2001) will present the Parade of Legends, featuring an emotive “Legends of Hockey – Players and Plays of a Lifetime” short film presentation and procession of HHOF Honoured Members. A series of Hall Flashback video features recalling memorable moments and highlights from past Inductions will be presented by TSN (HHOF founding sponsor since 1993), and Canadian Tire (HHOF sponsor since 2017) will present Legends Hot Stove features, which will bring Honoured Members to the stage to reminisce and entertain guests.
