Fuhr, Grant
After beginning the season with an All-Star performance in leading Canada to the Canada Cup title, GRANT FUHR continued his stellar play through the 1987-88 NHL season. At year’s end, he would win the VEZINA TROPHY and earn First Team All-Star honours. Remarkably, FUHR not only helped with the defence, but the offence as well, gaining a league-high eight assists while playing in a NHL-record 75 games for the Oilers. His 40 wins and four shutouts were also league highs to go along with a solid 3.43 goals-against average and .881 save percentage. Buffalo’s Tom Barrasso placed second in VEZINA voting.
